About Terry Larwood

Although the Larwoods have dwelled in Norfolk since the 1500s, where my ancestors were craftsmen in Horsham St. Faith's, before this time, my roots are linked to the Celts in Scotland.

I have been fascinated by sculpture and pottery for many years.  Recently, my passion for nature and wildlife has inspired me to create a series of clay sculptures of hares.  It's also possible that inspiration has come from my Celtic ancestry, in the way that the Celtic tribes respected and revered hares in their rituals.

A certain mystic surrounds the hare, partly due to its agility and ability to out-run predators by leaping a good fifteen feet in the air.  The hare is shown in many religions as a symbol of rebirth and hares have been known to sit in a circle at dusk.

I have been practising Buddhism for over twenty years and have participated in many Tibetan Buddhism courses and retreats.  I am a qualified ceramics teacher. I've worked with ceramics, pottery and students with special needs for over three decades, working in hospitals, day centres, schools and rehabilitation centres for drug and alcohol dependency.

I also conduct independent pottery workshops for all levels and abilities, and offer 1:1 tutoring, and have recently started to run classes in meditation with clay.

I live with my wife, two cats and Bantam hens - coincidentally, in the neighbouring village to where my ancestors once lived.

I have completed an eight year programme of Tara Rokpa Therapy which holds the Buddha's understanding of compassion at its core.
